Company History

Over the course of four decades, Kinedyne has evolved from a single facility in New Jersey to an international organization with more than five hundred employees at facilities in four different countries around the world. The name Kinedyne was derived from combining the words "Kinetics" and "Dynamics," thus representing the purpose of our products. As we grew and our product lines evolved, we identified synthetic web tie-downs for trailers as a product innovation with great potential compared to the traditional use of bulky metal chains.

As with any growth company, there were many milestones along the way. Kinedyne Corporation was founded in 1968 in a small building in central New Jersey with the intent to sell cargo securement products used by the transportation industry. Over the course of twenty years, Kinedyne focused on building a service and distribution network throughout North America in an effort to increase our market share.

Our presence in the United States increased over time and a warehouse was opened in Georgia in 1973 to support growth in the southeast region. At the same time, a facility was opened in Toronto, Ontario to support Kinedyne Canada Ltd. operations and service our growing customer base in the Canadian market. We broke ground in 1986 on a new 16,000 square foot facility in Prattville, Alabama to expand our capacity to manufacture high quality synthetic web material for use in Kinedyne straps. The first Kinedyne facility in the western United States was opened in 1987 in California, and later relocated to Nevada, to provide better service to our West Coast customers.

Kinedyne completed a major acquisition in 1989 when we purchased the Cargo Control division of Aeroquip Corporation of Lawrence, Kansas. This gave us access to the Aeroquip line of cargo securement products and their manufacturing technology. Twelve months later, we broke ground on a new 47,000 square-foot facility in Lawrence to serve as Kinedyne’s main operational facility. This led to a consolidation of all manufacturing and warehousing operations in the area into a single location. We continued our tradition of pursuing cutting edge of technology when a state-of-the-art roll forming and powder-coating facility was opened in 2000 in Painesville, Ohio. The plant would later be relocated to the Prattville facility to take advantage of operational efficiencies.

The first Kinedyne manufacturing facility outside of North America was opened in 2006 when Kinedyne Limited started operations in Kunshan, China with the intent to implement our strict quality control standards for all of the company’s manufacturing operations in the region. The facility started producing synthetic web material to provide high quality cargo tie-downs to all global markets.

Kinedyne achieved a major milestone in 2008 when we celebrated 40 years in business. At the same time, we once again took steps to invest in our future when we broke ground on a new 200,000 square foot state-of-the art manufacturing facility in Nantong, China. The new facility opened in 2009 and will serve as the base of operations for more than 300 of employees in the region. Our professional and highly qualified staff in Nantong will support all of Kinedyne’s manufacturing, quality control, engineering and supply chain management activities in the region.

All of these efforts throughout our history have enabled us to provide our customers the products, service and support that they have come to expect from us over our four decades of growth.

Manufacturing

Kinedyne has set the standard in the cargo control industry because our products meet the highest standards of safety and reliability. Our manufacturing facilities in the United States, Canada, Mexico and China help us improve the service and value we provide our customers. As a vertically integrated manufacturer, our goal is to use our in-house capabilities to ensure we can control everything that goes into a Kinedyne product, from the raw material through to the finished product.

Our newest manufacturing facility in Nantong, China represents an unprecedented expansion of our production capacity to include webbing production, as well as metal fabrication, processing and finishing. One of the most important goals of the Nantong project was to expand the company’s capacity to manufacture and finish numerous subcomponents used to build various Kinedyne products. Many of the hardware products used in Kinedyne strap assemblies – from ratchet, cam and over-center buckles, to a multitude of end fittings – are now produced entirely in the new facility. The ability to control manufacturing lead time on these parts further enhances an already impressive service and quality commitment. The range of operations under one roof in our new Nantong facility are unmatched by any other cargo control supplier.

For additional information on the Nantong facility, please visit our News & Events section to read recent press releases about the project.

Capacity Ratings

All ratings are for products in new condition. Breaking strengths shown on this website are based on the load a component or assembly will withstand before failing. Age, wear or damage to any tie-down system can greatly reduce its strength. All products should be inspected prior to each use.

WORKING LOAD LIMITS SHOWN ON THIS WEBSITE ARE RATED AT ONE-THIRD OF THE BREAKING STRENGTH WITH THE EXCEPTION OF CHAIN PRODUCTS. Unless otherwise specified, all ratings are based on a straight tensile pull. Load directions other than straight can result in a significant reduction in breaking strength.

The ratings shown on this website are contingent upon using Kinedyne track, beams, webbing and hardware as a system. Cargo control products must be attached to securing points of equal or greater strength to maintain the established working load limit & break-strength rating.

Note: All products shown on this website are intended to be used as cargo securing devices. Products are not to be used for lifting.

Warning: Products on this website may be subjected to dirt, mud snow, ice, road salt, cleaning solution, etc., and therefore require inspection, cleaning and lubricating to ensure that they are in proper operating condition.

Caution: Webbing straps must be protected when used on rough or sharp objects. All worn, deformed or damaged products should be removed from service immediately and replaced.

All Kinedyne products shall be used in accordance with local, state, federal and industry regulations. IT IS THE OWNER’S AND/OR USER’S RESPONSIBILITY TO EVALUATE THE SUITABILITY OF ANY CARGO SECURING PRODUCT FOR THEIR PARTICULAR APPLICATION. FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH RECOMMENDED USAGE GUIDELINES MAY RESULT IN CARGO DAMAGE, PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH.
