Expansion of manufacturing operations, sales team now underway
NANTONG, CHINA (March 31, 2010) – In the midst of celebrating the first anniversary of operations at its state-of-the-art China facility, Kinedyne Corporation recently expanded on that accomplishment by initiating a second phase of its long-term plan to manufacture and distribute cargo control products in the region to support all global markets.
Kinedyne recently broke ground at the Nantong facility with the intent of adding another 100,000 square feet of manufacturing and warehouse space to the site. Phase Two of the construction plan at the Nantong facility is scheduled for completion by the end of this summer. Originally completed in autumn 2009, the Nantong facility – located in eastern China’s Jiangsu Province – features four distinct buildings, covering more than 240,000 square feet.
The facility serves as the base of operations for hundreds of the company’s employees who support Kinedyne’s manufacturing, quality, engineering and supply chain activities throughout the region. The plant now supports more than 1,000 of the company’s product or component requirements. Many of those components, previously sourced in the region, are now manufactured by Kinedyne and subject to their strict internal manufacturing and quality standards.
The continued expansion of the company’s China operations, in conjunction with ongoing manufacturing operations in the United States, Canada and Mexico, will build on efforts to improve the overall service and value provided to customers around the globe.
The benefits of this additional expansion include capitalizing on all of the efficiencies available at the new plant, leveraging production capacities and moving quality control efforts further upstream in the materials supply chain. To this end, the Nantong facility is currently in the process of being recertified to be compliant with the prestigious ISO9001:2008 standard. This recognition was previously achieved at the company’s Kunshan facility prior to relocation of operations to the Nantong site.
In support of plans to sell cargo securement products into a number of new global markets, the company recently created a sales and marketing department, based out of the Nantong facility, to initiate efforts to develop a strategy to pursue Kinedyne’s growth initiatives in the region.
“The creation of an Asia Pacific sales and marketing team affirms our strong commitment to grow our business in Asia by making further inroads throughout China – a market undergoing tremendous growth in construction, transportation and infrastructure – all of which are positive factors in the potential for sales of load securement products,” says Larry Harrison, the company’s Vice President for Sales and Marketing.
In relation to the company’s growth plans, Kinedyne Executive Vice President James Klausmann II offers the following explanation:
“I consider the establishment of our Nantong plant, followed by the steady expansion of the scope of its operations, to be proud achievements for Kinedyne. We’re enthusiastic about our efforts to increase production and capacity in China and the launch of Phase Two of our plan is a decisive step in that direction. In addition to establishing a sales and marketing presence in the region, we are taking a number of steps to position Kinedyne to capitalize on the huge potential to sell cargo securement products in the Chinese marketplace.” Klausmann also noted the following regarding plans for the new space:
“This new space at our Nantong site will enable us to expand a number of critical operations, specifically textile production and development of our new retail packaging solutions. The added capacity will also bring further efficiency to our raw materials and finished goods handling and storage operations.”
